Your thermostat is what controls your HVAC system. It is what tells the ac and furnace to turn on or stop. Programmable thermostats are great because they can save you money on your energy bills and make sure your home is just the right temperature. Though they do a pretty good job nothing is perfect and can act up time to time. Here are some steps to take when your thermostat acts up. First thing you need to do is check your batteries. That seems easy enough but sometimes people forget they are powered by batteries. The thermostat can even stay lit up when the batteries no loner work properly. Take the cover plate off and change the batteries to see if your issue is resolved. Your next step after you change the batteries is to check the fuse. Most of the programmable thermostats have a fuse that can blow if too much power runs through it. This is a safety precaution. You can find a replacement at your local hardware store. Check both of your systems. If your air conditioner wont turn on and you have done the two other steps, your next thing to do is to switch to the furnace and see if the thermostat powers it. Same with if your furnace isn’t work, switch to the ac and see what happens. If the other system turns on then you know that the thermostat is not the issue and you can call a place like Bartlett Heating and Air to inspect and fix the broken system. If when you switch to the other system it still does not work then you still have a thermostat issue. If none of the above fix your issue you might need a new thermostat. You can call Bartlett Heating and Air to come diagnose and fix your thermostat or install a new one for you. Give us a call today!
