Though it is fall the warm weather has been sticking around. Many of you are still using your AC. Is your AC not blowing as cold as it used to? Did you come home to a house that was way hotter than it should be? Your air conditioner is running but blowing out hot air. There are a few things that could cause this that you can look into first. Here’s a list of a few things you should check out before you panic. The first thing you should do is check your thermostat. A lot of the times the problem stems from the thermostat. There are times the thermostat malfunctions which will result in the AC not working. Other times it is our error of having it on the wrong setting. I know it seems obvious but check that the thermostat is on, is on cool instead of heat, and that the fan is AUTO and not just ON. Sometimes the thermostat could get bumped and change the settings. Power could have also been lost to the unit and it gets reset that way. Make sure your batteries are working in the thermostat. There is a disconnect switch to your outside unit. Check that it is switched on. You might have a dirty air filter. Check your air filter to make sure it is clean and not clogged. It is recommended that you change the filter each month to help the AC run at its best. Another reason your AC might be blowing warm air is due to being low on refrigerant. If you are low on refrigerant, you need a technician like those at Bartlett Heating and Air to come out and recharge the system. We can also clean the unit at that time to make sure everything else is in tip top shape so call us today!
