In Illinois we have rebates available through Nicor and ComEd for installing new HVAC equipment. The amount of rebate you receive depends on the equipment you purchase. Here are some of the guidelines for the HVAC new installation rebates.
Rebates for air conditioner installation
*If you install a 15 SEER AC you can get a $300 rebate.
*If you install a 16 SEER AC you can get a $400 rebate.
Rebates for furnace installation.
*If you install a 95% furnace you can get a $200 rebate.
*If you install a 97% furnace you can get a $250 rebate.
*Programmable thermostat rebate is $20.
*Smart thermostat- $50
General Program Requirements.
- Equipment additions to a residential home, which are not replacing existing natural gas equipment, are not eligible for rebates.
- Replacement equipment must be new; resale equipment, new parts installed in existing equipment, or equipment that is leased, rebuilt, rented, or won as a prize do not qualify
- Equipment must be installed by a professional contractor conforming to all applicable building, local and state codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Indoor equipment must be installed and operational prior to requesting a rebate at the service address included on the rebate application; outdoor equipment may be scheduled at a future date (no later than May 31, 2014) if weather prevents immediate installation
- Equipment must be installed in a single-family home, or a multi-family home of three units or less.
