Technology keeps changing with each passing day, and the HVACR industry has not been left behind with regard to this. Quite a number of the HVAC systems in use today are very complex.
It is common knowledge that these systems need to be maintained and repaired from time to time so as to keep them in tip top condition. There are many technicians in the HVACR industry today who can do exactly that. What people need to understand, however, is that not all contractors are the same; some are simply better than others. The better trained a technician is the more reliable and efficient he or she is and can, therefore, be trusted to satisfactorily handle a wide range of HVACR related projects.
As mentioned, HVAC technology keeps changing. Due to this, a good number of veteran HVAC instructors have decided to do something that might seem counterintuitive i.e. going back to the fundamentals and the basics of HVAC systems. The main reason why this is happening is because; despite all the advancements that are being witnessed in this industry, HVACR systems still operate on the basic scientific principles.
A well trained technician is not the one who knows everything about modern HVAC systems. To be a master in this industry, a person needs to first set a solid foundation by learning the basic principles that all HVAC systems are based on. Some of the most important topics include thermodynamics, electronics and math. It is only after fully understanding the fundamentals that a technician can be able to really grasp the more complex HVAC principles being applied today.
Well trained technicians understand that regardless of how complex a certain system is; there are still certain basic concepts that it cannot ‘bypass’. One of the most notable basic concepts is the fact that heat will always flow from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature.
Any technician who started his or her HVAC education by learning the basic fundamentals will never disappoint. You will find that these individuals are better at solving HVAC problems than those who focused most of their energy on learning about the newest technologies.
In summary, the best trained technician isn’t that person who knows all there is to know about how the most advanced HVAC systems work. It is the individual who spent a lot of time and energy understanding the fundamental principles of HVAC systems and used that as the foundation to learn everything else.
