Furnaces can produce smells time to time. Some are normal and some are not. Smells coming from your furnace can be a worry. There are a few different things that cause your furnace to make a burning smell and how to fix it.
*Is there clearance around the furnace? Toys, shoes, and any other items that get close to the furnace will burn. This will not only cause a burning smell but can cause a fire so make sure the area around your furnace is clear of items.
*Is your filter clean? Using a dirty filter will not only restrict your air flow but will allow pieces of dirt and dust to get into the furnace and burn off creating a burning smell. It is best that you keep your filter clean and change it regularly because it helps your furnace run at its best. Keeping a clean filter will eliminate this smell.
*Have you had your furnace check up this year? Having the furnace cleaned and checked in the beginning of the year will get rid of most of the smell issues you have with the furnace. The technicians at Bartlett Heating and Air give the furnace a 28 point inspection and a cleaning so all the dust and grime is cleaned from the furnace. This is one thing you cannot see or smell but carbon monoxide can be deadly. You typically wont know until it is too late. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are close to that of the flu. Dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion ect. If you have any of these symptoms make sure to get to fresh air right away and get medical help.
