Not all homes have duct work to have the typical furnace and AC so how do those homes get heat? They get heat one of two ways. There is a ductless mini split system. This is a two piece system that has an inside and an outside component with a compressor, condenser, and a blower. The indoor blower consists of a coil, fan, and filter. The indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit with conduit that is attached to the walls of your home. Ductless systems use a heat pump to heat your home that uses reversing valves to redirect the flow of refrigerant. The fact that it can change the flow of refrigerant makes it possible to both heat and cool your home. Heat pumps use very little electricity and no fossil fuels. Boilers are another option to heat your home. Boilers heat your home by using hot water or steam generated by combustion. Boilers are fueled by natural gas or oil. The boiler heats the water in a vessel and when the water reaches a certain temperature, it is pushed through a series of pipes through circulating pumps. Boilers use radiators or baseboards to heat your home. Bartlett Heating and Air can answer all your HVAC questions so call us today!
