There are many parts in your air conditioner that works together to cool your home. One of the most important parts is the coils. There are two coils in your air conditioner to cool your home. Coils are made of serpentine and copper with fins. The coils transfer the heat that is carried in the refrigerant. You have a condenser coil and an evaporator coil. The condenser coil is in the outside part of your air conditioner. The refrigerant that is hot and under a high amount of pressure flows into the condenser coil from the compressor. When the refrigerant flows through the tube it releases heat. The condenser fan sucks up the heat and blows it outside. Once the refrigerant makes it to the end of the condenser coil it cools enough to turn back into a liquid again. The cool gaseous refrigerant goes into the evaporator coil. The blower blows the warm air from your home over the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil absorbs the heat from the air out of your home. The now cooler air is blown into your home. After the refrigerant leaves your evaporator coil it is now a cool, low pressure gas. You might need to repair your coils someday for a few different reasons. The biggest reason is if it has a leak. A leaking coil will leak out all your refrigerant and leave your system to freeze up and not cool your home. The other reason your coils will need attention is if they get too dirty. A dirty coil can not do its job efficiently and makes the system work harder to cool your home. When your system works harder you waste more energy and chance wearing out the rest of the air conditioner. Have your air conditioner cleaned and check each spring to ensure that it is running at its best. Bartlett Heating and Air can clean and repair all models of air conditioners so call us today!
