There are more factors to your comfort than just temperature and humidity. Here are a list of other things that determine how comfortable you are on a given day.
*Activity Level– How active you are has a bearing on your comfort. Your body produces heat to keep your core temperature stable. The more active you are the more heat produced. On extremely hot days you should watch your activity levels to make sure you don’t over heat.
*Clothing– The kind of clothing material you wear will influence your comfort level. Wearing clothes both light in fabric and light in color will make sure you are cooler in the summer heat. In the winter you wear multiple layers of heavier clothing to keep warm.
*Air Temperature– That is the temperature for the air you are in at the given moment which can change and vary even from your head to your feet.
*Radiant Temperature– Heat energy moves from warm surfaces to cool surfaces until the temperature is balanced. The space between is not affected. Radiant temperature is looked at when we are assessing your insulation needs.
*Air Speed– Any air moving across your body will make you feel colder. The faster the speed the cooler you will feel.
*Humidity– Humidity is the amount of moisture in the air. The amount of humidity depends on how comfortable you are. When we have high temperatures and high humidity it feels really muggy outside cause discomfort. You need just the right humidity to be comfortable. High humidity will encourage mold growth and low humidity will cause dry skin and other issues.
These factors have a lot to do with your comfort level. You can control your comfort by controlling the above factors that are under your control. Make sure to take it easy in the summer heat because it can cause you health issues if you are not careful.
