There are so many filters to choose from that it can get overwhelming to choose one. Filters are classified by something we call a MERV rating. The MERV rating shows its efficiency and how many particulates it can catch and filter. We recommend staying in the MERV 1-4 range. That range of filter does not restrict airflow or raise energy costs. If someone in your home has extreme allergies you can go into a MERV 4-8 but doing that will raise energy costs and can possibly restrict airflow. We do not recommend anything over MERV 8 because there is too much restriction on airflow. Check out the table below to see what each MERV stands for.
