When you are shopping for a new furnace there are many different choices to make. One of the options is whether you have an up flow furnace or a down flow furnace. The location in your house will determine whether you need a down flow or an up flow furnace. These types of furnaces refer to how and where the air is taken to be heated by the furnace. A down flow furnace takes air from the top and sends the warmed air through the bottom of the system. An up flow furnace does exactly the opposite of a down flow, sending warmed air through the top of the furnace. An up flow furnace will be installed within the basement. This way all the cool air from the basement will be warmed and sent up through your vents to the rest of the house. The down flow furnace is installed within the attic, warming the air and sending it downward through the vents to the rest of your house. Deciding where in your home you would want your furnace determines whether it will be an up flow or down flow. Bartlett Heating and Air gives free installation estimates so call us today!
