The weather is finally starting to stay cold which means you should reset your programmable thermostat. This is easy to do. Each thermostat is different so you will have to check your manual for your particular thermostat to do a reset on it. This will set the thermostat back to factory settings. If you lost your manual you can google search your make and model to find the manual. You will want to reprogram your thermostat to different settings for the winter. Good settings for the winter when your home is occupied is 68-70. Setting the thermostat to these settings will keep you comfortable and also keep your heating bill lower. When no one is home you should set the temperature 10-15 degrees colder than the 68 you set while you are home. You can do the same at night when you are sleeping since your bed typically keeps you warm. This will also add additional savings to your monthly energy bill. Programming the thermostat to stick to these settings versus the settings from summer will save you a bunch on your energy bill and be way easier on your HVAC system.
